In a step in the right direction for Amazon and a big win for DPLA, Amazon will allow its exclusive content to be loaned to library patrons through the DPLA. I first mentioned this back in December, as rumors were abound that these conversations were happening.
Amazon has been under fire lately for allegedly sabotaging libraries; signing exclusive agreements for books which prevents them being available to libraries, engaging in shady practices of data hoarding, etc. Amazon will do well in the PR realm to work with libraries instead of against them, and this appears to be just step one of their cooperative efforts.
