Fantastic news out of the ALA Midwinter Conference in Philadelphia (I deeply despise all who are there while I’m stuck here editing my book, but at least I get to stay in pajamas)!
Jerry Craft’s New Kid just won the John Newbery Medal, the first time a comic has been granted the prestigious honor! Comics and graphic novels of all kinds of won various literary awards more and more over the past decade, so it’s rather surprising that the Newbery was still a hold-out. Well, a hold-out no longer!
Literary and library social media is absolutely fireworks today due to the news. Congratulations to Jerry Craft and the comics medium! I guess I’ll get back to editing in my pajamas now…
Awesome post! Keep up the great work! 🙂
